Skopje marks 80th anniversary of United Nations founding

Skopje, 7 November 2025 (MIA) - The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Foreign Trade and the Office of the United Nations marked United Nations Day with an event Friday at the Museum of the City of Skopje.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Foreign Trade said Foreign Minister Timcho Mucunski and UN Resident Coordinator Rita Columbia jointly affirmed the commitment to the principles of the UN Charter and to continuing cooperation aimed at strengthening institutions, advancing human rights, protecting the environment, and fulfilling the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development.

“This year’s commemoration aims to remind the international community of the need to strengthen mutual trust and solidarity, especially in times of numerous challenges affecting every part of the world. On this occasion, the Republic of North Macedonia reaffirms its commitment to the principles and values of the United Nations Charter, to the advancement of human rights, sustainable development, and peace, as well as to continued partnerhip with the UN system in the country,” the Ministry said.

Minister Mucunski stressed that, as a member state of the United Nations, the country reaffirms its strong belief in multilateralism, in international law, and in the idea that global challenges can only be resolved collectively.

He noted that the country remains committed to global processes and will continue to promote the core values of the United Nations and be a reliable partner in achieving universal goals – the advancement of humanity, peace, justice, human dignity, dialogue, tolerance, and solidarity.

“In celebrating this day, I assure you that we remain a dedicated and reliable partner in achieving the universal goals of the United Nations,” Mucunski said.
